Sleepaway Camp
Welcome to the DPF 4-H Sleepaway Camp.
DPF 4-H Camp is a 140-acre co-ed sleepaway camp for campers ages 8–16, located on the majestic Long Island Sound in Riverhead, NY. Accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed by the Suffolk County Department of Health, we are one of the oldest 4-H camps in the state. Our mission is to ensure your child's safety and fun while offering high-quality 4-H educational programs in an environment that fosters personal growth. NOTES ABOUT CREATIVE TRACKS
Above scheduling is for morning classes only - afternoon rotational classes will be determined weekly.
Classes with an * are a double block" or two hour class. See Ultracamp for scheduling.
High ropes is an additional $150 for the week, all equipment is included. This program is a two hour class.
Equestrian registration will open in early 2025 based on horse availability.
All programs are subject to change based on week, weather, and staffing capabilities availabilities.
Cloverbuds (Day Camp: Ages 5 - 7) do not pick their classes as their day is prescheduled.

Special Programs
Mini-Stay Week: A Perfect Introduction to Camp
Dates:
- Session 1:
- Half 1: Monday to Wednesday, June 30-July 2
- Half 2: Thursday to Saturday, July 3-July 5
Fee: $420 per half session
Our Mini-Stay Week offers a taste of the full sleepaway camp experience, perfect for first-time campers or families seeking flexibility. Campers participate in all activities, including campfires and programs, alongside full-week campers. It’s an affordable option at half the cost for half the week, with the flexibility to extend your stay!
Note: For ages 7 and up (7-year-olds may only attend one session).
Stayover Weekends: Relax, Recharge, and Continue the Fun
Dates:
- July 19–20: Between Sessions 3 & 4
- August 9–10: Between Sessions 6 & 7
Fee: $250 per weekend
Stayover Weekends offer a seamless transition between back-to-back camp weeks. Enjoy a relaxed schedule with a late rise on Sunday, delicious brunch, and our signature Beach Sunday—a 4-hour beach day with special programming. It's the perfect blend of fun and relaxation to gear up for another exciting week!
Life at Camp
Each day at camp is filled with new adventures, challenges, and fun. We foster a welcoming community where new and returning campers become part of our camp family. Here's what you can expect at DPF 4-H Camp:
Rustic Accommodations
- Cabins: Cozy, rustic wood cabins housing 6–12 campers with 1–2 counselors.
- Facilities: Cabins are screened, equipped with lights, smoke detectors, and outlets. Bathrooms are nearby in washhouses.
Great Food and Fun Mealtime Gatherings
- Family-Style Meals: Served in the Lodge dining hall.
- Options: Plentiful food with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options upon request.
- Camper Participation: Campers help clean their section after meals to maintain a pleasant environment.
Camp Canteen
- What It Is: Our traditional "camp store" offering ice cream and snacks.
- Cost: No additional fee; campers visit during assigned times after lunch.
4-H Assemblies and Ceremonies
- Activities Include: Flag raising/lowering, weekly bonfires, songs, and inspirational ceremonies to encourage friendship and reflection.
Camper Capers
- Teamwork and Responsibility: Campers participate in daily chores to keep living areas clean.
- Recognition: Awards are given for teamwork and excellence.
Outdoor Camp Environment
- Nature Exploration: Campers may encounter chipmunks, spiders, and other wildlife.
- Environmental Respect: Teaching respect for all parts of our environment.
No Religious Services
- Inclusivity: We welcome all beliefs but do not offer religious services
Nutrition & Meals
All meals are served family-style with a variety of options to meet different dietary needs. Beverages like milk, water, and flavored water are available at every meal.
Meal Highlights
- Continental Breakfasts: Hot and cold cereals, muffins, yogurts, fresh fruits, bagels, and more.
- Salad Bar: Fresh greens, vegetables, beans, side salads, and condiments.
- Special Dietary Needs: Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available upon request. For specific needs, campers can bring their own food to be prepared by our kitchen staff.
Hydration
- Water Availability: Water is always available at the lodge and program locations.
- Requirement: A reusable water bottle with a lid is required for all campers.

We offer Camperships (formerly "Scholarships") to families residing in Nassau County to make camp accessible to all.
Campership Application
- Deadline: March 31st of the camp year.
- Notification: Applicants will receive a decision letter in April.

Additional Information
- Photo Gallery: All session photos are posted on Ultra Camp. This year ultracamp will be using Smugmug through Ultracamp so it might look a tad different than in previous years but should be easier to use.
