Flint Day Camp is the day camp portion of the Dorothy P. Flint 4-H Camp, a 140-acre co-ed sleep-away camp located on the majestic Long Island Sound in Riverhead, NY. Designed for campers entering 1st grade through age 13, this program is perfect for those not quite ready for sleep-away camp or who prefer a shorter day camp experience.

Campers enjoy the full range of camp activities during the day, including themed days, engaging classes, exciting parties, and even a shortened version of the evening program that sleep-away campers experience. Lunch and a canteen snack are included daily, and extended hours are available for an additional cost.

Day Camp Highlights:

Two Fun Theme Days Each Week: Campers participate in exciting activities and events tailored to the weekly theme.
Mini Evening Program Experience: A condensed version of the sleep-away camp evening program, giving campers a taste of what to expect if they choose to return as sleep-away campers.

Our camp is accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed by the Suffolk County Department of Health. As one of the oldest 4-H camps in the state, we ensure your child’s safety, personal growth, and fun while creating memories to last a lifetime.

Camper Groups

SunStriders (Ages 8–13)

SunStriders are our older day campers who sign up for classes just like sleep-away campers. They integrate seamlessly with sleep-away campers during activities, creating opportunities to make new friends and share memorable experiences.

Classes Include: Sports, crafts, nature and ecology, aquatics, and more!
Integration: SunStriders participate in all group activities alongside sleep-away campers.

Cloverbuds (Ages 5–7)

Our youngest campers, Cloverbuds, are perfect for first graders through 7-year-olds who aren’t quite ready for sleep-away camp. They operate in a pod system, staying with the same educators and day camp counselors all day for consistency and care.

Activities: Extra theme-based crafts, sports, and group activities tailored to their age.
Pinetree Hub: A cozy cabin designed specifically for day campers to store their gear and relax during the day.

Weekly Themes and Activities

Each week, Flint Day Camp features two exciting theme days filled with special events and activities. Campers engage in daily programming and team-based events inspired by the weekly theme. For example:

Welcome Week: Outdoor adventure challenges and themed games.
Superhero Week: Team competitions to save the camp from villains.
Carnival Week: Field games, festive activities, and camp-wide celebrations.

Campers also participate in a mini version of the evening programs that sleep-away campers enjoy each week, providing a unique and inclusive camp experience.
