Agriculture Conservation, Outdoor Recreation and Nature Stewardship (ACORNS) is a program for youth 2-5 years of age and their caregivers to learn more about the world around them. Learning takes place in a year round outdoor environment in a hands-on, inclusive, educational, and exciting way. The best way to learn is by doing. Each class will consist of a topic that fits in with the overall monthly theme. Class will begin with a physical activity to get the participants ready to learn. This activity will be followed by a story time. Each book is selected to fit that day's theme. After this the main lesson will begin. While these lessons will teach participants something nature/ ag related we also create them to teach everyday skills. To wrap up each class there will be time for free play. This is where the participants can be creative, meet new peers, and develop those crucial skills of sharing, team work, communication, and more. Please note, there are a few non Monday/Wednesday days due to scheduling conflicts.
November 18, 2024 - June 25, 2025
Every Monday and Wednesday
1:00pm - 2:45pm
Ages 2-5
This is an outdoor program, so please dress for the weather.
Please note, one caregiver must stay for the entire class.
For most of the class 2-5 year old children will be mixed together but will split up into two groups (2-3 and 4-5) to do the main lesson. This allows the lessons to be focused on different learning standards and developmental milestones.
