Sugar Kelp

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County is conducting a FREE hands-on gardening experiment using Long Island grown sugar kelp biofertilizer to grow healthier, tastier tomatoes — and help improve Long Island’s environment!

As a participant, you’ll receive:

  • Two tomato plants (one for kelp treatment, one control)
  • A Citizen Science Kit (with ruler, logbook & kelp fertilizer)
  • Informational materials about sugar kelp and sustainable gardening

Help reduce harmful runoff, promote sustainability, and be part of the growing movement to use local kelp as a natural fertilizer!

Open to all Nassau County residents
