4-H Activities Coordinator

Location: Riverhead, NY

Position Summary:

This position will serve as the 4-H Activities Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County and will provide program coordination and support to the 4-H Program. This position will provide direction, organization, coordination, and management of all aspects of the assigned 4-H Youth Development Programs, to include, but not be limited to: D.P.F. 4-H Camp Programs, East Meadow Farm 4-H Programs, the Long Island County Fair, the New York State Fair, and other 4-H Educational Programs administered by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County. This position will organize and coordinate activities relating to county and state fair; coordinate all aspects of the 4-H enrollment and reporting process; provide administrative assistance in the recruitment of new 4-H clubs and groups in Nassau County; assist in the coordination of 4-H fundraising and trips; assist in coordinating clubs/committee meetings to ensure that all animal and non-animal 4-H clubs and committees meet on a regular basis; and serve as an accessible resource to program volunteers, including assisting in providing orientation and ongoing support and follow-up, to ensure initial and continued 4-H Club success. This position will utilize existing program resources and materials in program work, and will assist in delivering educational programs as defined.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of transferrable program/functional experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, teach and evaluate informal educational programs through a variety of delivery methods to reach individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual means.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technologies for educational and communication purposes.

POSITION DETAILS:

This position is a full-time, non-exempt position, 40 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $24.00 - $26.00, commensurate with experience. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, NYS retirement, vacation and sick leave.
