Activity Leaders: Arts/Crafts, Drama, Music, Science, Nature, Animal Science, Horticulture, Sports, Archery, Climbing, Outdoor loving skills, Hiking, Dance, Zumba, Martial Arts and more

This position will serve as Program Area Coordinator (for assigned area**) for DPF 4-H Camp, a residential summer camp owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County, located in Riverhead, New York. The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to: assisting with weekly program design, implementing afternoon and evening programs and activities, assisting in daily operations of the DPF 4-H Camp as directed; and supervising 4-H campers and counseling staff. This position accepts and performs all position duties outlined in this position description, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and deemed appropriate by the DPF 4-H Camp Director and/or Camp Team Leader. (NOTE: This position includes cabin responsibilities.) **Area assignments include Arts & Crafts (i.e. craft, jewelry making, cooking, recycled crafts, etc.), Performing Arts (i.e. music, dance, drama, Zumba, etc.), Nature, Fishing, Farm, Sports, Outdoor Adventure, Archery, and Counselor In-Training (CIT).

Aquatics Director (Waterfront)

This position will serve as the Waterfront Coordinator for DPF 4-H Camp, a residential summer camp owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County, located in Riverhead, New York.The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to: overseeing and coordinating the DPF 4-H Camp’s waterfront and swimming activities, and maintaining the standards that lead to a quality program.This position will identify and meet camper needs, and will operate waterfront programs in compliance with the American Red Cross requirements for water safety.This position accepts and performs all position duties outlined in this position description, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and deemed appropriate by the DPF 4-H Camp Director and/or Camp Specialist. (NOTE: This position does not include cabin responsibilities.)

Community/Unit Leaders

This position will serve as a Camp Community Leader for DPF 4-H Camp, a residential summer camp owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County, located in Riverhead, New York. The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to: supervision of assigned staff and campers, counselling staff members for job success, assisting with camper supervision including but not limited to dealing with camper behavior issues, failure to thrive in camp environment, etc., assisting with weekly program design, implementing afternoon and evening programs and activities, assisting in daily operations of the DPF 4-H Camp as directed. This position accepts and performs all position duties outlined in this position description, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and deemed appropriate by the DPF 4-H Camp Director and/or Camp Team Leader. (NOTE: This position includes cabin responsibilities as needed.) 

Cooks / Kitchen Staff

This position will serve as the Camp Kitchen Assistant for DPF 4-H Camp, a residential summer camp owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County, located in Riverhead, New York. The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to: assisting in assigned areas of kitchen or dining room as determined by the Camp Kitchen Manager/Cook. This position accepts and performs all position duties outlined in this position description, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and deemed appropriate by the Camp Kitchen Manager/Cook and/or 4-H Camp Director. (NOTE: This position does not include cabin responsibilities.)

Counselors (Must be 17 years or older)

Senior Counselor

This position will serve as a Senior Camp Counselor for the DPF 4-H Camp, a residential summer camp owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County, located in Riverhead, NewYork. The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to: assisting with weekly program design and implementation of all the DPF 4-H Camp programs and activities, and providing overall supervision and direction to assigned Junior Camp Counselors and youth participating in camp programs and activities.  This position accepts and performs all position duties outlined in this position description, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and deemed appropriate by the DPF 4-H Camp Director and/or Camp Specialist. (NOTE: This position includes cabin responsibilities.)

Junior Counselor

This position will serve as a Junior Camp Counselor for the DPF 4-H Camp, a residential summer camp owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County, located in Riverhead, NewYork.  The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to: assisting with weekly program design and implementation of all the DPF 4-H Camp programs and activities, and assisting in providing overall supervision of youth participating in camp activities. This position accepts and performs all position duties outlined in this position description, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and deemed appropriate by the DPF 4-H Camp Director. (NOTE: This position includes cabin responsibilities.)

Equine Director

This position will serve as the Horse Coordinator for DPF 4-H Camp, a residential summer camp owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County, located in Riverhead, New York. The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to: overseeing and coordinating the DPF 4-H Camp’s Equine activities, and maintaining the standards that lead to a quality program. This position will identify and meet camper needs, and will operate the Equine Program in compliance with the 4-H Standards.This position accepts and performs all position duties outlined in this position description, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and deemed appropriate by the DPF 4-H Camp Director and/or Camp Specialty. (NOTE: This position does not include regular cabin responsibilities unless needed.)

 Lifeguards (Waterfront- Willing to train)

This position will serve as a Counselor - Lifeguard for the DPF 4-H Camp, a residential summer camp owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County, located in Riverhead, New York. The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to: teaching and helping to coordinate the DPF 4-H Camp waterfront, boating and swimming activities, and helping to maintain standards that lead to a quality program. This position will identify and meet camper needs, and will operate waterfront programs in compliance with the American Red Cross and Suffolk County Department of Health requirements for water safety. This position accepts and performs all position duties outlined in this position description, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and deemed appropriate by the DPF 4-H Camp Director and/or Camp Manager. (NOTE: This position includes cabin responsibilities.)

Maintenance Assistants

This position will serve as the Maintenance Assistant for DPF 4-H Camp, a residential summer camp owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County, located in Riverhead, New York. The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to: assisting with providing up keep of camp grounds and buildings to maintain a safe and neat looking facility, and assisting with performing basic maintenance and custodial responsibilities. This position accepts and performs all position duties outlined in this position description, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and deemed appropriate by the DPF 4-H Camp Director, Team Leader and/or Facilities Manager. (NOTE: This position does not include cabin responsibilities but may bunk in with campers.) 

Overnight Safety Officer

Nurse

This position will serve as the Camp Nurse/Health Coordinator for DPF 4-H Camp, a residential summer camp owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County, located in Riverhead, New York. The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to: supervising the health and cleanliness standards for the DPF 4-H Camp, and working cooperatively with the Camp Director and Camp Staff to ensure adequate physical health conditions for all staff and camp participants. This position accepts and performs all position duties outlined in this position description, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and deemed appropriate by the DPF 4-H Camp Director and/or Team Leader. (NOTE: This position does not include cabin responsibilities but does include camper/staff supervision for ones staying in the health lodge.)
