East Meadow Farm Operations Coordinator

Location: East Meadow, NY

Position Summary:

This position will serve as the East Meadow Farm (EMF) Operations Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County. Primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: cleaning and maintaining the Association’s grounds and physical facilities to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers, participants, and the public; follow daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules; mowing; snow removal; repairs; minor carpentry and construction projects; maintenance of equipment; storing rental vehicles; set up/breakdown for programs and events; and coordinating facility needs with the Association Program Leader and/or designated staff/volunteers. The position will assist at the Dorothy P. Flint (DPF) 4-H Camp and CCE-NC Headquarters in Eisenhower Park as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or Equivalent Education (GED/High School Diploma and one year of transferrable program/functional experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Ability to operate a tractor and related equipment.
  • Physical ability to do heavy lifting, shovel snow, and carry supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to climb and perform work from a ladder.
  • Knowledge of cleaning, maintenance, and repair methods, materials, and techniques applicable to public buildings.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide cleaning, maintenance, and repair work.
  • Ability to identify and address safety concerns in the work place.
  • Reliability and competence with building mechanicals and plumbing operations.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with commercial maintenance and repair services on occasion.
  • Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and assume responsibility with general guidelines and direction.
  • Ability to plan and organize work responsibilities according to priorities developed with the immediate supervisor.
  • Ability to work effectively with the public and co-workers.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisor and staff as pertains to the duties of the job.

POSITION DETAILS:

This position is a full-time, non-exempt position, 100% FTE. The hourly rate for this position is $21.00 to $23.00 commensurate with experience. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, NYS retirement, vacation and sick leave.
