Join educators from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County right from your classroom as we take a tour of Pendleton's Harvest Moon Farm in Riverhead, New York.
Bringing agriculture to life through a LIVE virtual farm field trip experience!
CCE-Nassau is offering a one-of-a-kind learning experience by connecting students to a real working farm from the comfort of their classrooms. This virtual farm tour has been pre-recorded, however, participants will have the opportunity to meet the farm owner, learn about how and why they started their family farm, and ask questions about their day-to-day life on the farm!
About Pendleton's Harvest Moon Farm
From their website: www.harvestmoonsheep.com
Pendleton's Harvest Moon Farm, LLC is located on the North Fork of Long Island. We are a small, family owned and operated business focused on the sustainable production of quality, pasture-raised lamb and breeding stock. We began raising Katahdin and Dorper sheep in 2016, and continue to improve the quality of our flock every year. In addition to lamb, we anticipate increasing the variety of farm-raised products during the 2022 season.
We pasture our sheep from early spring when the lambs are born through late fall when the lambs are ready for market. Our overwintering animals are supplemented with locally produced hay and grain, and all of our animals are raised with respect and appreciation.
In addition to our focus on regenerative grazing practices for healthy sheep, we concentrate on improving soil health and providing habitat for native pollinators. We understand the value of taking care of the land and our natural resources, so that the land can take care of us.
