Major Duties of Position:

The CCE-Nassau County Long Island Taste New York (LI-TNY) Assistant Market Manager will assist the LI-TNY Market Manager with all primary responsibilities and necessary duties, including covering for the LI-TNY Manager when Manager is not on duty. Position requirements includes clerical/administrative duties, day-to-day planning, coordination, product ordering, product receiving, routine management, supervision/guidance of market clerk staff, straight forward inventory management (daily, weekly and monthly counts), purchasing, operation of cash register, basic cash controls, operation and maintenance of inventory and Point of Sale (NCR- SCANMASTER) software, regular staff scheduling, transportation of product as needed, customer service, and general record keeping.

The LI-TNY Assistant Market Manager assists with the promotion of local agricultural products and agri-tourism and will help represent CCE-Nassau County to the public, NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets and Cornell University; a familiarity with local agriculture products and retail food sales is expected. LI TNY is a specific grant-funded program. This position is a Temp (6 months -1 year) Full Time Position with the opportunity to become a regular positon.

Qualifications and Experience Pre-requisites:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree and two years of transferrable program/functional experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Meet acceptable background check standard, if required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
  • Ability to lift 20-50 lbs.
  • At least 2 years managing Staff


  • Master’s Degree with relevant to the experience.
  • Knowledge of the organization, operation, philosophy, and objectives of Cooperative Extension and its programs at County, State and Federal levels.
  • Experience marketing local agricultural products and/or retail food sales as well as the promotion of agri-tourism.
  • Familiarity with electronic technology (e.g. video, audio, computers, etc.).
  • Proficiency with programs such as Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Quick Books and Internet-based communications.
  • Radio, television, telecommunications and other media skills including social media.
