Location: East Meadow, NY
This position will serve as the East Meadow Farm (EMF) Stand Manager and will oversee the EMF Farm Stand. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day management, organization, and coordination of all aspects of the EMF Farm Stand. Primary responsibilities include managing all staff and volunteers as per the directions of the Association Program Leader. This position will provide clerical/administrative support with day-to-day planning, coordination and routine management, including set up and take down of the EMF Farm Stand and storing all products. Will coordinate all produce deliveries, pick-ups, etc. from EMF, DPF 4-H Camp farm and other vendors and will be responsible for the overall management of the entire community farm stand, including, but not limited to: displays, pricing, sales, marketing and operating. This position will also provide education to customers, staff and vendors as it relates to the farm stand products and farm stand management. This position will go to full-time during the Farm Stand season.
Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of transferrable program/functional experience).
Experience relevant to the role of the position to include two (2) years of retail experience.
Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
Must be able to lift and carry 20-50 lbs. regularly.
Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (DMV and criminal background checks).
Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
Must be willing to work in diverse and sometimes challenging weather conditions for long work hours.
Ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and visual channels using traditional tools and methods.
Knowledge of Farm Stand operations.
Skill and/or interest in gardening.
Ability to utilize computers, including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel and internet communication programs.
Ability to follow through on commitments.
Ability to multi-task and handle stressful situations in a calm and effective manner.
Experience working with diverse groups of people.
Teamwork and organization skills.
