Information About the Presenters:

Dr. Ann Charles Vegdahl is a Processing Authority with the Cornell Food Venture Center (CFVC) in NYC. She received her PhD in Microbial Biology from Rutgers University and is an expert in food safety, fresh produce, and microbial risk assessment. The CFVC provides assistance to ensure safety and stability of food products entering the marketplace, including lab analysis for pH, water, activity, and Brix of foods and beverages, Process Authority approval, shelf-life studies, and more.

Cynthia Colón is the Program Manager for the Manufacturing & Technology Resource Consortium (MTRC) at Stony Brook University. The MTRC is New York’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NY-MEP) center for the Long Island region. The center is designed to assist small to medium-sized manufacturing companies develop business growth and increase competitiveness. Together with their partners, MTRC assists businesses in incorporating new technologies, developing new products, improving productivity, and identifying potential funding to supplement project costs.
